This is my second purchase with WHC. A few months ago, I purchased the 70 days To Sparta. Overall I am happy with what I learned from that program especially how James lays out the weekly training cycle. It makes a lot of sense to me and how I like to plan my own training.
The issues I have with 70 Days are very similar to the ones I have with this new kettlebell program. Please understand that I have just purchased this program and have yet to implement it. I have read through it and watched the videos.
I would like to see more historical rationale for why exercises were chosen. Like his book, both programs are lacking the necessary sources he used to back up his claims. This leaves readers and/or would be practitioners in the dark questioning his credibility.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve listened to James on other podcasts and watched him on YouTube interviews. The dude has a ton of knowledge and experience. He should be trusted as a reputable source. I just feel that for $50, I should get a little more historical substance, than just 13 pages of exercises.
I also think it is important to create your own videos rather than linking someone else’s. I’ve been in the kettlebell realm for over 15 years. I have also attended many certs and workshops over the years. By no means am I perfect, but I know when someone hasn’t spent a lot of time under the bell so to speak. I don’t doubt the gentleman in the videos is a great coach. He just has a lot shoring up to do in his basic skills IMHO.
It would also help if there was an intro video that also showcased some of the programming prior to purchase. I’m not saying you need to give it all away. Wet our appetite a bit as well as give us an honest representation of what to expect.
Honestly, if you posted some of the tech vids from the program in an intro video, I probably wouldn’t have bought it.
That being said, I did purchase it and will complete the program that way I can give follow up feedback to make this a more complete review.
Thank you for taking the time to review this.
This is the BEST kettlebell workout program EVER. The workout were short enough to fit into my busy schedule as a parent but really challenging and rewarding. Many of the movements were new to me but the videos made it really easy to learn them, and once I did: oh boy were they fun!
WHAT will this guy think of next! AMAZING! Hard, fun, easy to fit into a crazy schedule but GREAT results. My shoulders, abs and legs have never looked like this! I think the diet and lifestyle section really helped a lot. The fat dropped off really quick and I got a LOT stronger. Been great for jiujitsu too!
I’ve tried a dozen online kettlebell programs and this one is different. Very different. Some of these types of lifts I hadn’t even heard of. But I will say this: this old school kettlebell is WAY cool. Main focus is clearly on true functional strength and not typical “Kettlebell Fit” BS. I would like to see more people adopt this style of training because I think it’s far superior to what most people are doing with kettlebells. Great job James. Hope to see a sequel someday!
